A brief report on the bombardment of Deir Ezzor province during September 2017.

Introduction:

Deir Ezzor province has been subjected to an unprecedented Aerial, artillery and rocket bombardment by the regime forces backed by their allies and the US-led coalition forces which caused substantial civilian casualties, where the regime forces with their allies, on the one hand, and the US-led coalition forces, on the other hand, are working to make gains at the expense of the Islamic state group, in the interests of their allies on the ground in the villages and towns south of the Euphrates river in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor,    As well as the villages and towns north of the Euphrates river in the province.

The Justice for Life organization has documented 254 civilians were killed in Deir Ezzor due to aerial bombardment by various parties(the Regime forces and their allies , the US-led coalition) in September 2017, including  57 children and 43 women, as well as documented 533 Airstrike targeted Deir Ezzor over the same period, the Regime forces and their allies are most likely responsible for 438 Airstrikes, whereas the US-led coalition is responsible for 95 Airstrikes.

The JFL organization has documented 8 civilians including two children and three women were killed as a result of artillery bombardment by the Regime Forces and their allies.

The Summary includes photographs of victims killed in the shelling of Deir Ezzor in September 2017, the photographs are from the social media networks and the JFL organization verified them.

Note:

 This report shed light on some areas experienced intensive bombardment and the death of too many civilians in September 2017, those areas are: Al Bukamal city,Al Mayadin city,Boqruss Foqani town,Boqruss tahtani town,Al Boleel town,Al Khraita town,Hawaij Thiab village,Mazloum village and Khsham town.

This brief report relies on the documentation of the Justice For Life organization, which have been compiled and verified by our documentation team.

The documented incidents covered in the report aren’t definitive, and that due to the delayed arrival of the confirmed information due to lack of communication and the departure of civilians from the covered areas.

Dozens of victims in one month

First- Al Boleel town:

It belongs to Muhasan township east of Deir Ezzor province, and it was subjected to aerial bombardment during last September, most likely by the Regime forces and the allies.

The JFL organization has documented 26 civilians were killed on 10th September due to the targeting of the crossing points, which are used by civilians to flee after the destruction of the bridges that were connecting both banks of the Euphrates river, and documented the death of 16 civilians including a child and 5 women on 29 September, as a result of targeting the civilian houses in the village, where the village had been subjected to approximately 215 airstrikes between the mentioned dates.

Mohammad Khalifa Al Dabbous – he was killed on 10 September 2017 as a result of aerial bombardment targeted the crossing point in Al Boleel,  likely by the regime forces and their allies, the picture is from the social media networks and it was verified by the JFL organization.

  Second-  the city of Al Bukamal:

It is a Syrian city and the center of Al Bukamal in Deir Ezzor province, the Euphrates River passes through it and it is the last point of the river in Syria before entering the Iraqi territory.

The JFL organization documented 13 people were killed on 9th September due to the targeting of a prison belongs to the Islamic state group most likely by the US-led coalition fighter jets, and also documented the death of 10 civilians including 6 children and 3 women due to aerial bombardment targeted houses in the industrial zone of the city on 17th September, likely by the US-led coalition warplanes.

    

Mounir Badr Atallah Hajj Kardoush, he was killed on 17th  September 2017 as a result of the aerial bombardment of Al Bukamal, the picture is from the social media networks and it was verified by the JFL organization

Ahmad Mahjoub Mulla Mdaid, he was killed on September 9th 2017, as a result of the targeting of a prison belongs to the Islamic state group in Al Bukamal city,  the picture is from the social media networks and it was verified by the JFL organization

11 civilians including 3 children and a woman were killed due to airstrikes targeted several areas on 30 September 2017, likely by the US-led coalition fighter jets, where the researchers of the JFL organization documented airstrikes targeted the following areas on the same day:

Al Rahman mosque, shopping center in Al Fayhaa Square,Al Ba’ath Middle school in Al Jamia,at neighborhood,the surrounding of the bus station,the vicinity of Aisha hospital,the surrounding of Al Shouhada,a roundabout and areas nearby the martyrs cemetery.

     

Ahmad Jamal Al Farhan, he was killed on 30 September 2017 in the aerial bombardment of Al BuKamal, the picture is from the social media networks and it was verified by the JFL organization

Third- Mazloum village:

A Syrian village belongs to Khsham township in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The Justice for Life organization has documented the death of 7 civilians including  a child and 3 women in Airstrike targeted civilian houses on September 13th, as well as the death of 7 civilians as a result of three airstrikes targeted the village on 23  of the same month.

Fourth- Al Mayadin:

 It is located on the Euphrates River, 45 kilometers east of Deir Ezzor city.

The Justice For Life organization documented 13 civilians were killed on 14,29 and 30 September 2017, in airstrikes were carried out likely by the warplanes of the regime forces and the allied forces.

On September 14th, 7 civilians were killed in 15 Airstrikes targeted the city, the airstrikes were concentrated on houses in the vicinity of the following areas: the city bridge,Al Tib  Al Hadith hospital,the National Hospital and Al Sena,a neighborhood, the airstrikes also led to the destruction of Houses

     Salah Al Alash, He was killed on 14 September 2017 due to aerial bombardment targeted Al Mayadin, the picture is from the social media networks and it was verified by the JFL organization

And on 29 September, 4 civilians  (2 children and 2 women) were killed in an airstrike targeted a civilian house, after the airstrike the civilian victims remained trapped under the rubble, and haven’t been pulled from the rubble till a few days later due to the lack of tools that help to pull victims from under the rubble, and the next day a child along with woman were killed due to 3 airstrikes targeted the civilian houses, where one of the airstrikes dug a big hole in the ground.

Fifth- Boqruss Foqani and Boqruss Tahtani towns:

  They are located east of Deir Ezzor and belong to Al Mayadin.

The both towns were targeted with 8 airstrikes most likely by the warplanes of the Regime forces and their allies on 14 and 30 of September.

The Justice For Life organization documented the death of 8 civilians including two children and two women in 7 airstrikes targeted the civilian houses in Boqruss Tahtani town, whereas 7 civilians including 3 children and a woman were killed due to 7 airstrikes targeted the civilian homes in Boqruss Foqani town.

Saad Yousef Al-Jedaie, he was killed on 30 September 2017 in Aerial bombardment targeted Boqruss Foqani, , the picture is from the social media networks and it was verified by the JFL organization

Sixth- Khsham town:

A township in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

Warplanes likely belong to the regime forces and the allies targeted Khsham with an airstrike on 14 September, and led to the death of 9 children.

Seventh- Hawaij Thiab Shamia town:

It is located south of the Euphrates River in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor and belong to Al Tebni township.

On September 9th, Two airstrikes likely by the regime forces and their allies warplanes, targeted the river crossing point which is used by civilians to get out of the village and caused the death of 8 civilians including a woman.

 Eighth- Al Khraita town:

It is located in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor southern of the Euphrates river and belong to Al Tebni township.

Two airstrikes most likely by the fighter jets of the regime forces and their allies targeted the IDPs camps on the river‘s bank on September 11th which led to the death of 6 civilians including a child and 3 women.
