The Syrian government issued an amnesty that included dozens of detainees
from Deir Ezzor, JFL correspondent in the city reported.
This decision came as a compromise of the Syrian government with the detainees for releasing them in exchange for joining the Syrian government forces and other affiliated groups.
JFL correspondent added that part of the detainees was released from the central prison of Deir Ezzor, and the other part was released from the government prisons in other Syrian provinces, who were transported from Damascus to Al Qamishli, then to the besieged neighborhoods that are held by government forces in Deir Ezzor.
This decision came in the context as the government forces suffer from shortage of fighters due to the human losses in the battles with “Islamic State” organization during the recent days.
It should be noted that the Syrian government promised to release a number of detainees after international pressure was put on it as the detainees’ file has been blown over.
